Student FAMU ETD Checklist: Prior to ETD submission

 

A. Collect the following documents. Except where noted, these documents must be in PDF form:

  1. Final version of thesis or dissertation.
  2. Abstract of your manuscript. This should be in a text format, not PDF.
  3. Any supplemental documents. These documents do not need to be in PDF form.
  4. Maximum size for any single file is 1GB.
  5. Maximum overall size is 1GB.
  6. Defense Outcome Form.
  7. Signature Page
  8. Copyright Permission Documents, if needed.
  9. Any Notes or comments you want to include with your submission. This should be in text format, not PDF.
  10. Signed FAMU Policy Compliance Form.
  11. Your full Curriculum-Vitae.

B. Collect the following information:

  1. Your current and permanent address.
  2. Name of the degree awarded from this list.
  3. Your academic department from this list.
  4. The name of the Chair of your supervisory committee.
  5. The names of all of your committee members.
  6. Determine the Primary Subject Category of your work from this list.
  7. Determine Additional Subject Categories of your work from this list.
  8. Determine up-to 6 keywords describing your work.

C. During the submission process, you will be asked to decide on the following:

  1. Select type of publishing:
  2. Traditional Publishing or
  3. Open Access Publishing PLUS.
  4. If you want major search engines to be able to discover your work through ProQuest. Please visit here for more information.
  5. If you want to delay the release of your work: You will need to request permission from the graduate school to delay release of your work.
  6. If you want to register your work with the U.S. Office of Copyright: You can learn more about this process the U.S. Copyright Office
  7. If you want to order hardcover or softcover copies of your work.

D. Submission of ETD through ProQuest ETD

  1. Ensure that your submission PDF follows the formatting guidelines.
  2. Access the FAMU ETD site at ProQuest ETD Administrator
  3. If you have not already done so, create an account.
  4. Log into your account and follow the submission steps. If you have forgotten something, you may logout and return again.
  5. By the Thesis/Dissertation submission date, submit your manuscript

Next Steps

  1. Your document will be forwarded to your College ETD Coordinator for review. After your submission has been reviewed by the Office of Graduate Studies and Research, you will receive an email indicating whether or not your manuscript has been accepted. If revisions are needed, you must complete all of them before the deadline specified in the message. If you are unable to complete the corrections within the timeframe specified, your graduation application will be canceled. You will need to re-apply for graduation for the next semester.
